For this project, I was tasked with designing a brand identity for a new online retail company selling luxury designer clothing from brands such as Balmain, Alexander McQueen, Off-White etc. Not only did I design the brand identity but I also helped come up with a name that fitted what the company wanted to stand for.
blue-chip
/ˈbluːtʃɪp/
adjective
adjective: blue-chip;
denoting companies or their shares considered to be a reliable investment, though less secure than gilt-edged stock.
of the highest quality.
"blue-chip art"
Origin
ate 19th century (in sense ‘played with blue chips’): from the blue chip used in gambling games, which usually has a high value.
As you can see from the definition provided the company name as well as the brand identity ties in really well with how Blue Chip wants to be perceived by its customers. Due to Blue Chip being a retailer of expensive fashion with some pieces costing over £300 the brand and its name had to align with luxury.
Different examples of branding applications, firstly, is the business card, a common thing for luxury designer retailers/personal shoppers to get made. A lot of people that run these including the person at Blue Chip not only sell B2C but they also buy and sell B2B so business cards are often included in orders for a personal touch but also so that B2B customers can have their details on hand. Secondly, the order card doubles up as a refund/exchange card to increase the efficiency of the return process.
Examples of photo editing and scene creation I did with Blue Chip. Despite their luxury product Blue Chip was operating on a shoestring budget so we bought and wrapped in light blue paper 3 boxes to create a scene that was not only on brand but also deterred people from trying to steal their content, something very common in the designer space. For the products themselves, I removed bits of fluff, etc off the garments, made the flooring lighter to create a better contrast with the product, and also made the garments themselves (if black) darker so that the garments appeared higher quality and not washed out as they appeared in the top row
Further examples of photo capturing and editing that I did for Blue Chip that was used on the website as extra images to the main product photo but, they were utilised best as story images to let people know that they're not only in stock but also it helped gain the trust of customers that Blue Chip actually had the products they claimed to have.
Black Friday promotional content

Going off the brand identity of the brand for Black Friday I wanted to create a piece of content that would fit with the branding but also serve purpose. So, I used this secondary image of a card dealer and by using masks and smart objects managed to change the faces of the cards so that it looked like the dealer was giving you a choice of which deal would you be taking first on Black Friday.
